​Concerned about AI? Live in Pennsylvania? Join us for an afternoon to take action about AI safety!

​As a large, politically balanced state, Pennsylvania has the opportunity to take the lead on regulating the many harms of AI. However, that won't happen if AI company lobbyists are the only voices talking to our legislators.

​During this meeting, we'll empower you to reach out to your state representatives with a simple ask: regulate AI in the state of Pennsylvania. We'll start with a brief presentation on the state of AI regulation at the state level. Then we'll write a short, unified message to send to our representatives so you don't have to worry about what to say, Finally, each of us will leave a short message for our representatives.

​​​Why AI safety?

​Current AI models have already proven they can regurgitate copyrighted work, autonomously reproduce, lie about being able to autonomously reproduce, create nerve gas, empower terrorists, collude to fix prices, encourage children to commit suicide, deliver bombs, hire dark web hitmen, de-anonymize passersby, replace most human employment and unpredictably launch nuclear weapons. And this is the least capable it will ever be.

​​​​​Meanwhile, companies and governments are funding AI as fast as they can get approval, with US companies alone committing to spend an incomprehensible $560 billion (about the cost to build the entire Interstate Highway system) in just the last few months. While many leaders acknowledge the risks, nobody is willing to stand behind those words to make the technology safer.
