Unreasonable People: Why Climate Progress Depends On Them
Presented by the UBC Sauder Centre for Climate and Business Solutions | Part of #PNWClimateWeek
The climate ecosystem wasn't built by people who played it safe. It was built by people who kept showing up through funding cycles, policy swings, and moments when progress felt uncertain.
This evening brings together builders who never stopped building. None of them took a straight path to get here. And in a moment when the climate movement needs staying power more than ever, their stories matter.
The Format: Pecha Kucha
Each speaker takes the stage Pecha Kucha-style — 20 images, 20 seconds each — to tell their story, the real one: how they built their platform, the pivots and detours along the way, and what kept them going when everything seemed to say stop.
Six minutes and forty seconds.
Then we sit down together for an honest conversation — the questions behind the work, the hard moments, and what it really takes to keep building.
Confirmed Speakers:
Elizabeth (Shirt) Gamble, CEO at Profoundry, a Collective of Delphi, GLOBE, CBSR, and Leading Change Canada
Kim Hallwood, CEO at Hallwood Sustainability, Former Head of Corporate Sustainability at HSBC
