Our Stories, Our Healing: Anonymous Reflections from First-Year Students

Reflection, Vulnerability & Collective Healing

Join us on Monday March 30th from 5-7pm in the UBC Black Student Space for Our Stories, Our Healing: Anonymous Reflections from First-Year Students.

The first year of university can be exciting, overwhelming, isolating, and transformative — often all at once. Many students arrive carrying expectations, pressures, and uncertainties while trying to find their place in a new environment.

This event invites first-year students to reflect on their experiences through anonymous storytelling. Participants will respond to prompts about moments from their first year — whether it’s a time their mental health was tested, something they wish they had done differently, or advice they would give to their past self.

Responses will be collected anonymously, mixed together, and read aloud to spark reflection and dialogue. Through hearing one another’s stories — without names or labels — we create space to recognize shared experiences, vulnerability, and growth.

We’ll begin with individual reflections before moving into a collective space to listen, reflect, and discuss in a respectful and supportive environment.

Because sometimes the stories we’re afraid to share are the ones that remind us we’re not alone.

Food will be provided. Tickets are required.

Come ready to listen, reflect, and engage in meaningful conversation.
