π³ Neoliberalism - how did we get here, and what might be next?
βHey all,
βThis is an experimental 4 week co-learning group * for those that are:
π§ Trying to make sense of our current economic system (in America) and the historical context from which it arose. To celebrate its successes, and to reflect on its not so positive externalities on people and the planet.
βCurious about the possibilities of designing the next iteration of a better economic system with an open mind and heart. By learning from models that are working in other places: from human societies past and present, and Nature.
(Also, some collective sense-making on the various current schools of thoughts and movements. What do they all mean, are they saying the same things in different words, different things in same words)?
β*This is not a political debate group, a class that comes with a strong prescribed expert POV, or a deep dive on any of the above very broad topics. It is meant to be co-designed as we go, based on where curiosity pulls us.
βSo the description is left intentionally vague.
β**I do have personal biases towards thinking about future economic systems as living systems that support human and planet flourishing and will be bringing in readings related to that. And I have a nature-centered design bias towards how to approach the future.
βFor a bit of structure:
βWeek 1: What is neoliberalist capitalism?
βWeek 2: How did we get here?
βWeek 3: What might a better system look like?
βWeek 4: What are some levers for change for getting there?
βIf this sounds interesting. Then bring your thinker and designer hats, and join the β !
