Photography Is… Connecting - From Lens to Self Festival 2026

​Photographs help us stay close to people who are far away, share memories and build relationships.

​They can also connect generations, places, communities and different moments in time. In this workshop, you will explore photography as a social practice: something that takes shape between people and through relationships.

​With photographic exercises and guided questions, you will notice the connections between people, places and objects, and consider how an image might bring you closer to someone or something. You will reflect on what you share, who you would like to involve, and the stories photographs can preserve and bring into circulation.

​No photography experience required. As is usual for From Lens to Self experiences, please ensure you are on time and connected via a computer or laptop.

​What to bring: A smartphone or digital camera, pen and paper
