Voice AI Israel – First Meetup
We're launching the Voice AI Israel Community — meetups for builders, founders, researchers, and technologists shaping the future of voice and conversational AI.
From real-time latency and STT accuracy to handling barge-ins, multilingual support, and Twilio integration — Voice AI teams are solving hard problems every day. Whether you're wrestling with conversation memory, debugging audio pipelines, managing hallucination guardrails, or just trying to make TTS sound a little more human — this is the place to share, learn, and build together.
Our first event, hosted by TLV Partners, will feature hands-on case studies from CareBestie (healthcare) and Lemonade (insurance), showing how startups are dealing with everyday issues of voice AI in production. We’ll also hear from Shai Alon (Google Cloud) on what’s next in voice infrastructure and AI tooling.
Let’s build this community — one voice at a time.
Agenda
17:30 - Gathering
18:00 - Building Live Voice Agents with Gemini by Shai Alon, Startup Evangelist at Google Cloud. Starting with a live demo of a custom voice actor app that delivers emotionally rich audio on demand. He’ll then break down the architectural tradeoffs between traditional STT-LLM-TTS pipelines and real-time streaming with Gemini’s native API, while exploring practical challenges like latency, user interruptions, and frameworks like pipecat and Livekit.
18:40 - Designing Voice AI at Scale with OpenAI by Shay Davidson, Principal Engineer at Lemonade.
Shay will walk through how his team built a fullstack voice AI framework using the OpenAI Realtime API, shaped through close collaboration with OpenAI itself. He’ll cover core components like semantic VAD, live transcription, and eval-driven tuning—along with the key tradeoffs between prompt-driven agents and state machines. Expect a practical, behind-the-scenes look at automation, system design, telephony integration, and custom voice workflows in production.19:20 - Designing Trustworthy Voice AI for Elderly Care by David Ilievsky, Co-Founder & CTO at CareBestie.
David will share how his team built a real-time voice calling system that speaks naturally, understands context, and builds trust with elderly patients at home. He’ll walk through why they chose ElevenLabs for expressive voice, how they designed a scalable outbound pipeline, and the challenges of crafting reliable, human-like system prompts. The talk also touches on production reliability, regression testing, and the liability concerns that come with deploying AI in healthcare. Expect a high-level, practical look at what it really takes to bring voice AI to life in sensitive real-world settings.
