Scope 3 at UBC: Tackling Our Biggest Emissions Challenge
Scope 3 at UBC: Tackling Our Biggest Emissions Challenge
Presented by the UBC Sauder Centre for Climate and Business Solutions and UBC Campus + Community Planning | Part of UBC Climate Emergency Week
This workshop is open to all UBC Affiliates (Faculty, employees, students)
Scope 3 emissions—the indirect emissions from purchased goods and services, commuting, travel, and supply chains—make up the majority of UBC’s carbon footprint. They are also the most complex to measure and reduce.
Join us for this interactive session, open to staff and faculty across UBC, to learn where to start when addressing emissions within your faculty or department. Together, we’ll explore what Scope 3 looks like in a university context, why it’s critical to UBC’s climate commitments, and practical strategies for reducing these emissions in day-to-day operations.
We’ll also unpack the challenges and opportunities of tackling Scope 3—highlighting what’s working across UBC at the institutional level, along with examples from UBC Sauder—and build momentum for collective action across the university community.
