Open to people with any or no familiarity with Islamic law, this interactive session will introduce participants to the basic questions underlying Islamic legal rulings and the long history of debate between scholars, political leaders, and ordinary Muslims.
Come learn about the similarities and differences between Sunni and Shia approaches, how Muslim jurists are and are not like popes and rabbis, and why Islamic law could have looked—and almost did look—very different.
