Solana Constitution and Declaration Consultation Event
Solana protocol governance is upgrading, which will bring proposal voting mechanisms completely on-chain and will introduce delegate override functionality for stakers. In alignment with this move, it is time to formalise the governance processes for the network.
To facilitate these changes two key documents are being created, The Solana Declaration and The Solana Constitution. The Declaration is an ‘aspirational’ document, that articulates the values and network objectives that Solana aims to realize in the coming years. The Constitution is an ‘operational’ document, which articulates the exact processes and practices that we as network participants will agree to follow going forward. This includes the creation of a new governance track ‘The Solana Governance Proposal’ and making key decisions on governance network parameters such as quorum, discussion periods and voting thresholds.
To ensure that all network stakeholders have had a genuine opportunity to shape and contribute to these documents, a series of consultation events are being run for the remainder of the year. This first event is for validators only.
Finally, a ceremonial ‘mass signing event’ will take place at Breakpoint and we will discuss the ideal plan for what could be a significant moment in Solana history.
