FREE-ADVANCED ANCHORS & POTHOLE ESCAPES

​If you are ready to get into those Class 4 canyons, the ADVANCED ones, this is where you want to be. This course is for advanced canyoneers ONLY! Basic anchors, rigging, knots, skills are required with approximately 50 canyons to your resume. A CGI Level 1 certification, or equivalent, is required to attend. We are combining pothole escapes and advanced anchors into one, three-day weekend. When taught separately it takes 2 days each at a cost of $500! Because there is some overlap with the use of advanced anchors and pothole escape techniques, it is favorable to do this in three days instead of 4. 

​Advanced anchors fall into a few categories. Retrievable, Releasable, and Specialized. Examples of anchors, pothole escape tools and individual skills are as follows:

• ​Sandtraps

• ​Potshots

• ​Water anchor

• ​Toggles

• ​Releasable knots

• ​Pack anchors

• ​Meat anchors

• ​Partner capture

• ​Partner assist

• ​Jumping

• ​Pothole escape methods

​All of the factors and components related to the use of each will be taught and used in practice and in canyon. 

​REQUIREMENTS TO ATTEND! This course is limited to 20 participants. I am also looking for 2 assistants that are qualified, so talk to Shane if interested. You are expected to show up on time and stay for the duration of the event. There will be an application process to determine who the participants will be.
