International Consulting Specialist

Dr Ashish George Principal Consultant and Unit Head, Liver Transplant, Fortis Hospital Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi, India

Dr Ashish George is one of India's foremost liver transplant surgeons, with advanced subspecialty training from AIIMS New Delhi and a career built across India's leading hepatobiliary centres. He specialises in adult and paediatric liver transplantation, hepatocellular cancer, acute and acute-on-chronic liver failure, and complex hepatobiliary resections. Through the Jivo Connect Clinic initiative, he will collaborate with African physicians to provide structured specialist guidance on hepatic diagnosis, treatment planning, and surgical decision-making.

Who Should Participate

This initiative is relevant for:

  • Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists

  • General Surgeons with HPB or GI interest

  • Surgical Oncologists

  • Transplant and Critical Care Physicians

  • General Physicians and Internists managing patients with liver disease

Suitable Cases

  • Chronic liver disease and cirrhosis requiring specialist evaluation

  • Acute liver failure or acute-on-chronic liver failure requiring management guidance

  • Hepatocellular carcinoma requiring staging and treatment planning

  • Biliary tract disorders including cholangiocarcinoma

  • Portal hypertension complications requiring intervention planning

  • Patients being evaluated for liver transplantation

  • Second opinions before major hepatic surgery or cross-border referral

Consultation Logistics

  • Consultations will be conducted via Zoom

  • Ideally, the patient should be present with the consulting doctor during the session

  • In exceptional circumstances, the patient may join remotely

  • Language of consultation: English

  • French interpreter available upon prior request

  • Case submission deadline: 26 April 2026 | 11:00 PM GMT

Please share patient case notes, imaging (ultrasound, CT, MRI), liver function tests, biopsy reports where available, prior treatment history, and relevant investigations with your Jivo Coordinator before the submission deadline.

Objective

To enable structured case review and high-quality joint consultation on hepatic diagnosis, treatment planning, and surgical decision-making, providing patients with evidence-based liver care guidance while the African physician retains clinical leadership and continuity of care.
