My grandma took to the streets to protest against nuclear weapons. Today I'm out there again, this time to pause AI development.
Most people have never heard of some of the greater risks of AI, or think it's science fiction. This talk will set that straight for everyone who dares to show up: from the basics of AI safety, to why I dropped my career to speak about it full-time. And why you maybe should too. I will explain why AI is the most important risk of our time, and give you ideas how to talk to friends, colleagues, and skeptics about it.
In about 45 minutes, I hope to turn you into an amateur AI safety advocate.
