Edenity and Netflix present Behind the Title, an intimate October gathering for Senior Women in Engineering Management.
Titles tell us remarkably little about the person doing the job.
On the surface, this evening is about what actually sits behind the title Engineering Manager, particularly at Netflix. Underneath, it's about something considerably more interesting: what sits behind our own titles. Which parts of ourselves helped us become leaders. What we learned to show. What we learned to hide. And what happens when the same characteristic that makes us powerful is read by the room as difficult, emotional, intense, stubborn, intimidating or simply too much.
Centred around Netflix's Wednesday, this event draws on Wednesday Addams character arc: a female outcast punished for precisely the qualities that make her exceptional: her precision, her refusal to flatter, her intensity. Her story isn't about learning to soften, but learning to own what lives in her shadow and let people in without losing her edge.
Behind Engineering Manager. Behind Netflix. Behind leadership. And eventually, behind some of the stories we tell about ourselves.
For one evening, Netflix Warsaw becomes a snapshot of Wedneday's Nevermore Academy: candlelight, gothic florals, velvet and lace in a room built for unscripted, unpolished, entirely on-the-record conversation.
