AI for Real People: Your First 30 Minutes
Curious about AI but feeling left out of all the hype? You're not alone — and you're who we built this for.
AI for Real People is a free, 30-minute intro class designed for everyday adults who haven't worked in tech. No jargon, no prerequisites, no assumptions about what you already know. Just plainspoken answers to the questions you'd actually ask if you weren't worried about sounding silly.
In half an hour, you'll get a clearer picture of:
What "AI" actually means in 2026 — and what it doesn't mean
How to start using AI tools in your everyday life (work, school, family, hobbies)
What's worth paying attention to, and what's hype you can safely ignore
How to keep learning at your own pace after the class
Who's this for? Parents, teachers, retirees, students, professionals outside tech — anyone curious. If you've ever felt like AI is happening to you instead of with you, this is the room.
What to bring: Just your questions. A laptop or phone helps if you want to follow along, but it's not required.
Format: Live on Zoom, hosted by Alex Helms (founder, Pacific Forward Initiative). 30 minutes, short by design. You'll never be asked to turn on your camera or speak — questions go in the Q&A box and I'll answer as we go.
Free to attend. The Zoom link is sent when you register.
About Pacific Forward Initiative: PFI is a Hawaiʻi-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit teaching everyday people the skills of the future, starting with AI. We believe these tools should be useful to everyone — not just to people who already work in tech.
