For this edition of Coffee Table, we’re joined by Karen El Masry to rethink what it actually means to be creative.
Karen is multidisciplinary Egyptian artist and creative professional with a background in Fine Arts, whose work spans art, creative direction, advertising, and creative education.
With creativity shaping both her personal and professional journey, she’ll be leading us through a conversation that looks beyond creativity as simply being good at a craft.
As we grow older, creativity can start to feel like something reserved for people who are artistic, talented, or particularly “good” at a craft. Between work, university, routines, and responsibilities, we can gradually lose touch with the part of ourselves that once created simply for the sake of exploring.
Together, we’ll challenge that definition and explore creativity as something that exists within all of us in the way we think, express ourselves, solve problems, and experience the world around us.
We’ll talk about why we tend to lose touch with our creativity as we grow older, what gets in the way of it, and how we can begin making space for it again.
The aim is simply to leave with a different perspective on what it means to be creative—and a renewed sense of connection to the creative side of yourself.
