Join YouthTheGap and Plus X Innovation for an evening of honest conversation, community connection and practical insight, whilst fundraising for Afrori Books.

Making Space Work is the first event of Season 2 of the Impact Series, a series exploring how we bridge the gap between access and opportunity. This opening session asks a deceptively simple question: does having access to a space actually help you move forward?

For founders, creatives and community builders, space is rarely just a room. It's the environment that shapes your energy, your confidence, and your sense of belonging. But not all spaces are built the same, and not everyone experiences them the same way.

Designed for entrepreneurs, creatives, innovators and community builders, this event blends informal connection with honest conversation in order to:

  • Understand what makes a space truly supportive, not just available

  • Explore the psychological and social barriers that can exist even in open, accessible environments

  • Examine why environment, community and energy matter more than location

  • Reflect on the difference between working in isolation and working in the right room

  • Build awareness of how inclusive, intentional spaces create real opportunity

You'll leave with fresh perspectives, meaningful connections, and practical insight into how space, when designed with people in mind, becomes a genuine catalyst for progress.

What to Expect

β€‹πŸ€ Connection Circles Kick off the evening with rotating themed discussions designed to spark honest, informal conversations around space, belonging and what it really means to feel at home somewhere. Each station will have an open-ended question to help you reflect on your own experience, whether that's a workspace that changed everything, or one that held you back. Real connection isn't built on having the same story, but on being willing to share it.

β€‹πŸŽ€ Panel: Making Space Work A live discussion with founders, creatives and community leaders who have navigated, challenged and reimagined what space can do.

Expect real talk on:

  • What makes a space help you grow, not just exist in

  • The hidden barriers that can make even open doors feel closed

  • How the right environment changes what you believe is possible

β€‹πŸ§  Reflection + Audience Q&A Share a thought, write down a takeaway, or put a question to the panel. All perspectives welcome.

β€‹πŸŒ± Open Networking Round off the evening with relaxed networking. Connect with others, post your reflections, or browse resources to carry the conversation further.

This event is designed to be inclusive, thought-provoking and energising, a space to be honest about what space actually means for the people trying to build something in it.

β€‹πŸ”— Secure your spot today and join a growing community creating the conditions for real opportunity, one conversation at a time.
