BioFi Deep Dive with Zev Friedman on 'Relational Economics: Case studies of what didn’t work (and some clues for what might)'
Join us for our next BioFi Deep Dive with Zev Friedman of Cooperate WNC (www.cooperatewnc.org), to discuss real life examples of Relational Economics of different flavors, and at different scales.
Zev has lived at Earthaven Ecovillage for 15 years, worked for many years as an agroecology and permaculture educator and consultant, and will share about his experience participating in and nurturing a relational economics ecosystem in his home bioregion of Western North Carolina, over the last 7 years since he founded Cooperate WNC.
We’ll explore practices he and his colleagues have learned and experimented with through Cooperate WNC’s mutual aid and cooperative economics network: community savings and loan pools, cooperative bulk purchasing, various methods of participatory budgeting, and an integrated alternative currency/community service system at Earthaven.
Zev will share what he's learned about the level of trust required for various types of relational economics practices. He will reflect on approaches for observing the level of trust a group has and what type of practice can meet them where they are.
