About Event

Join us and help us move recycled oyster shells and build a new pen! Shells are vital to restoring oysters in the Bay

About:

Join us to help move oyster shells and build a new pen! We’re relocating our drop site (where all our SF restaurant shells are collected) just down the street. We’ll start by constructing the new pen, then move about 20,000 lbs of shell to the new location over the course of a couple of days.

Shell recycling is important step in restoring oyster populations that are at 1% of thier historic levels. Oyster larvae are already free swimming in the water but they need something to attach to. They will always seek out oyster shells to attach to and grow! Oysters are critical because they filter water, enhance biodiversity and protect shorelines from erosion.

Come out and help our oysters!! 🦪🦪
