About Event

Most people have heard of OpenAI, Anthropic, SpaceX, Xendit.

What most don't know is that you can access these — and the next wave of AI and robotics startups — from right here in Hong Kong.

In 2019, Aabhas Khanna wrote his first angel check. He didn't stop there. Over the next decade — while working at HSBC by day — he quietly built a portfolio of 140+ startups, grew one of AngelList's largest venture syndicates to 6,000 members, and deployed over $70M into companies that would go on to be backed by Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator, Tiger Global and Coatue.

In September 2025, he left banking to do this full time — to build the product he wished had existed when he was navigating the private markets ecosystem as a professional with a day job.

Early-stage investing is simple in theory: you back a company before it's obvious, take equity, and if you've read the founder and the market correctly, the returns can be 10x, 50x, sometimes more.

The risk is real. Write-offs happen. But the bigger problem most professionals face isn't risk tolerance — it's access. The top deals don't show up in your inbox. They circulate through networks built over years. And for most professionals in Hong Kong, the question is also a practical one: how do you actually deploy capital into the world's best startups — companies building in San Francisco, Bangalore, Singapore — without relocating, without an institutional mandate, and without giving up your day job?

This session answers that directly.

What we'll cover:

  • What early-stage investing actually looks like in practice: the risks, the returns, and the frameworks serious allocators use to evaluate deals

  • Why the best venture deals never reach most investors — and the structural shifts in 2026 making access more possible than ever

  • How to deploy capital into top global startups from right here in Hong Kong — the mechanics, the platforms, the compliance considerations, and what a professional-grade LP relationship actually looks like

  • The difference between passive exposure through ETFs or secondaries versus being an active LP with real deal visibility and co-investment rights

  • How to start, what questions to ask, and what to watch out for

Followed by an open Q&A. Bring your sharpest questions.

This evening is for one type of person.

You're a professional — a banker, lawyer, consultant, finance executive or entrepreneur based in Hong Kong. You have capital, you have curiosity, and you've probably looked at venture before and found it opaque, inaccessible or just too complicated to navigate alongside a full-time career. You want a trusted, compliant entry point into global deal flow — not a sales pitch, not a seminar, not a room full of strangers being sold to.

If that's you, you should be in the room.

If you're looking for a general investment overview, this isn't it.
