Multispecies swards (MSS) for Sustainable Grazing: Project Launch Event & Farm Walk
Join us on June 17, 2026, for an exciting day at UCD Lyons Farm as we kick off our innovative project, "Multispecies Swards for Sustainable Grazing." Hosted by Datamars Sustainability Foundation, in collaboration with University College Dublin and Teagasc, this event promises to shed light on the future of agriculture.
This four-year project, funded by DMSF with co-funding support from BiOrbic and VistaMilk, brings together UCD and Teagasc to accelerate the adoption of multispecies swards (MSS) in Irish and international livestock systems. By combining long-term field research with farmer-focused social science and stakeholder engagement, the project aims to demonstrate how MSS can improve farm profitability and resilience, reduce emissions and fertiliser use, enhance soil health and biodiversity, and address the practical, social and policy barriers that currently limit wider uptake.
At the launch event, we plan to share early results and insights from the project's first phase, alongside farmer and advisor perspectives on MSS adoption. The event aims to bring together key stakeholders from the Irish and international agriculture communities to showcase Ireland’s leadership in this innovative area of regenerative pasture management. The day will include opening remarks from Minister Noel Grealish TD, presentations on early findings, a panel discussion with farmers and researchers, and guided field visits at Lyons Farm. Attendance is by invitation only.
Please accept this invitation to confirm your attendance. Capacity is limited, so if you are ultimately unable to join, we kindly ask that you let us know so another guest may take your place. The event schedule will be sent at a later date.
