Who is in the Room? by WISA
Hi, I am Andleeb, the founder of Women in Safe AI (WISA), a new London-based community for women in AI safety. I created WISA because, as the field of AI grows, more women's perspectives are needed in the rooms where its foundations are laid. WISA is here to guide women interested in AI Safety but unsure where to start, and to establish a welcoming community for those already engaging with this space.
The event: Who's in the Room?
If you are a woman interested in AI safety, you have probably noticed that there are not many spaces built specifically for you. Plenty of meetups, reading groups, and research events in London, but not many centred on the experience of being a woman aspiring to make a meaningful contribution in this field. So we asked ourselves: who is actually in the room when AI safety decisions are made, and how can we support women who want to be there?
What to expect:
Arrive from 6 pm. We will introduce ourselves before moving into a facilitated discussion about what brought everyone to AI safety, any barriers to entry, and what this community should become. We will then break out into smaller groups, and finally, there will be hot food!
This is for you if:
You are working in AI safety, governance, or policy. You are moving into the field and want to know who else is out there. Or you have been circling the edges and want a low-pressure way in. This is for you if you care about making AI safe and want to meet other women who do too!
