Rethinking Disasters: Co-Creation Circle
Calling climate leaders and innovators:
Given the scale of today’s climate crises, we need new disaster response models. Models that can be responsive, holistic, and centred on those closest to climate disaster.
SARRD — the Societal Alliance for Resilience and Response to Disasters — is a new framework to reimagine disaster response across sectors, based on 26+ years of grassroots experience in South Asia.
During Climate Week NYC, Goonj invites practitioners, thought leaders, funding partners, media, and institutions to join us in a SARRD Circle — an interactive convening where we will:
Listen to and learn from disaster-affected communities.
Build inclusive decision-making led by those most impacted.
Commit resources in advance — money, services, skills.
Mainstream disaster dialogue in everyday life, not just in times of crisis.
This convening is ideal for:
Social Sector Innovators – Leaders in climate resilience, disaster response, and community-driven development.
Government & Multilateral Agencies – Policymakers shaping sustainable disaster response frameworks.
Global Foundations – Philanthropic organizations investing in climate action and community resilience.
Development Sector Media & Ecosystem Enablers – Journalists, funders, and collaboration facilitators amplifying climate resilience narratives and cross-sector partnerships.
This is the beginning of a coalition for systemic change that extends far beyond Climate Week.
