Resource Management: What can ecosystems teach us?
We are constantly asked to manage resources: in our work, in our personal lives and collectively for the prosperity of our systems and planet. But do we do it in a present and sustainable way? Can we be kind and responsible stewards with the lessons our culture has been teaching us?
The “Lessons from nature: Resource management” workshop invites us to explore these themes through playing a game that simulates managing a natural ecosystem, based on natural science. By playing we can reflect on our own management tendencies and see the long-term effects they have on the prolonged health of a system. Then, through guided reflection we can see how these tendencies have shown up in our lives before and how we could do a better job managing our resources sustainably in the future. The goal is discovering our own insights through the lived experience of playing and having fun.
This workshop is for professionals and students who want to bring a conscious, sustainable approach to their own time and resource management. It is also for folks who wish to envision better ways we could collectively manage nature and for anyone who wants to play a card game together with a community of sustainability-conscious people.
