​The Outing

​The Outing is the culminating performance of sound artist Monte Weber’s 2026 artist residency at Prospect. Set outdoors across the historic landscape of the property, the work brings together live electronic music and site-specific dance in an immersive performance shaped by the natural environment.

​Long before Prospect existed in its present form, the property served as a picnic ground—a place where people arrived by horse and carriage to gather, wander, and spend time in the landscape. The Outing takes that history as a point of departure, creating a playful and dreamlike encounter with the landscape, with one another, and with ourselves.

​Beginning in the late afternoon, the performance unfolds alongside the changing autumn light. As the sun lowers across the landscape, shifting light and lengthening shadows become another element of the work—transforming the field, trees, boulders, dancers, and audience over the course of the performance.

​Drawing on the Transcendentalist idea that immersion in nature can offer a way back to oneself, The Outing invites the audience to slow down, observe, and experience Prospect anew—as field, stone, tree, light, movement, and sound become part of a single environment.

Performance: 4:30–5:30 PM

​Bring a chair: As with many outdoor performances in the Berkshires, guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket. Prospect overnight guests may use the outdoor chairs provided with their accommodations.

​Featuring Claire Cuny and Kendra Slack

​Claire Cuny is a dancer, choreographer, vocalist, and interdisciplinary artist with a long history of creating contemporary dance in New York City and the Hudson Valley. Her movement style lives at the intersection of Balanchine’s ballet technique and the contemporary work of Martha Graham. She is also a singer-songwriter and leads the indie-rock trio My So-Called Summer.

​Kendra Slack is an artist and Co-Artistic Director of Linked Dance Theatre. A former performer with Punchdrunk at The McKittrick Hotel, she has spent more than a decade creating site-specific and immersive works that invite audiences to experience familiar spaces in new ways.

​Monte Weber (Metno) is a Hudson Valley, New York–based sound artist and multi-genre composer whose work drifts between the atmospheric and the immediate—spanning concert halls, black-box theaters, indie rock clubs, and immersive sound installations. His music is introspective, experimental, and deeply emotional, often shaped by the quiet presence of the natural world surrounding his home studio in Stephentown, NY.
