Philosophy at the Museum: Renaissance Art and Humanism

​Inside The Met's Renaissance galleries, we'll trace one dramatic arc — from the fall of Rome to the summit of the High Renaissance, where humanity painted itself at the center of the cosmos. Through works by Van Eyck, Lippi, and Raphael, three short lectures and small-group talks, we'll ask the questions these masterpieces still pose: Are we set apart? And once we've made ourselves the measure of everything, the universe bearing witness to itself, what comes next?

​The program will include three 30-minute conversations, with participants divided into groups of 3–4 for each session. Through structured prompts and brief introductions before each conversation, participants will be invited to engage with the artworks through philosophical reflection and personal interpretation.
