How to Build Great Singaporean Technology Companies - FSO Speaker Series
About
At Figuring Shit Out, we put on events for Founders who don't normally go to events. We didn't believe Singapore needed another panel, fireside chat or Q&A so we did the radical step of asking speakers think ahead of time about what they wanted to say. Beyond palatable food & hopefully more than palatable networking, why schlep across town to sit in a cramped room for an hour: Perspective!
All our speakers come from fascinating career backgrounds that caused them to look at the world and think about problems in uniquely insightful ways. Each of our talks provides a unique lens on the problems facing startups that Founders can absorb to provide a new toolkit of insights for their own founder journey.
Topic
In a first from Figuring Shit Out, we are specifically inviting an out of town speaker to cover his perspectives on Singapore Startups. As a huge fan of his startup writings on Sohum.com, I reached out to see if he was interested in giving a talk and the timings fortunately worked out. Join us for a very special FSO session for what is sure to be an illuminating session with a rare thinker and doer in the technology space.
About the Speaker
Sohum Raut has been a rockstar, performing gigs for millions of people, building apps that became the most popular in Australia, and having his work featured on the front page of most mainstream newspapers and every major magazine he can think of, including Forbes, CBS, Reuters, Canal+, The Age, and the Sydney Morning Herald. His work contributed to the creation of Melbourne’s free tram zone, used by 4 million people each week. He has founded a tech startup that develops real estate (SR Developments), an investment firm (Hummingbird Ventures), an internet software company (Snowball), and writes a popular blog (Sohum.com). He angel invests in startups and serves as an LP in VC funds, where he has backed over 100 startups and more than 10 unicorns. He holds a degree in computer science and an MBA from RMIT.
