Pulse of Fintech 2026
Wednesday, 10 September 2026, 8:30 to 12:30
The Pod, Vivea Business Park, Moka, Mauritius
Pulse of Fintech returns for its second edition, convening founders, investors, corporate leaders, regulators, and policymakers from across Africa's fintech ecosystem for a half-morning of candid, operator-led discussion. The programme maps directly onto the themes shaping the sector now, and onto Mauritius's ambition, set out in the National Budget's Future Ready Economy commitments, to serve as the financial bridge between Africa and Asia.
Three panels, each led by people building at the frontier rather than describing it from a distance.
Panel 1 — The banking of tomorrow: open banking and Banking-as-a-Service
With an Open Banking Framework now committed, the live question is no longer whether to adopt one but who it is being designed for, and what Mauritius is actually selling to the markets beyond its shores. This panel examines scope, participation, liability, and reach, and what would make a Mauritian framework genuinely useful to a fintech operating across the continent.
Moderated by Ido Sum (AfricAI), with Atul Bhatia (blink by Emtel), Florent Masson (MIPS), and Kolawole Olajide (Sava Africa).
Panel 2 — Cross-border payments and the shortage of FX: stablecoins, digital assets, and settlement
How stablecoin rails and digital-asset infrastructure are reshaping cross-border payments and treasury for corporates, fintechs, and banks, in a region defined by hard-currency scarcity.
Moderated by Maz Chaponda (CrossFx), with Greg van der Spuy (Spendl Money) and Alon Stern (Turnstay).
Panel 3 — The collaboration conundrum: credit, lending, and the data that underwrites them
How alternative data and AI are changing the way credit is priced and extended to underserved consumers and SMEs, and what genuine collaboration between fintechs, incumbents, insurers, and regulators looks like in practice.
Moderated by Reena Mulliah Moonoosamy (NIC Group), with Nehal Helmy (Flend), Wesley Billett (Happy Pay), and Ido Sum (AfricAI).
The morning closes with networking over Finger lunch. Seats are limited and allocated on registration.
