Ligare is a Houston gathering built around one idea: that a good activity, a room full of kind people, and a few real questions can do more in two hours than another Friday night out with nowhere to land.
On Friday, May 22, we're at Velvet Oak Tavern for a night themed around "the performance of self" — who you are when people are watching, who slips through when they're not, and what it feels like to be the only one in the room who knows your own secret. The game is a fast, easy, hilarious party game of bluffing, Chameleon. You'll get it immediately. The conversations it opens will surprise you.
This one runs a little differently. Midway through the night, tables rotate — you'll play a round with one group, then move and meet another. If you've ever left a Ligare gathering wishing you'd had more time with the people at other tables, this one's for you.
Every guest is thoughtfully paired — based on personality, life stage, how you connect, and what you're looking for. Brenen, who built this thing, checks you in at the door and stays through the night.
how the night runs
Before you arrive
You'll take a short Connection Profile to tell us about who you are and how you connect. We'll email you a few days before with a preview of the game, how to play, and what the night is about. The day before, something to think about, a preview of the discussion questions, and a playlist built around the theme.
When you arrive (~30 min)
Check in with Brenen at the door. You get a drink ticket, a nametag, and a printed program with your table details and a letter written just for you. There's a chalkboard near the entrance with a prompt tied to the night's theme. Light games are already running. Grab your drink, ease in.
Your first table (~45 min)
The host moves everyone to their assigned tables. You meet your first group, light a candle, and open a Spark Card to start. Then you play Chameleon — a deduction game where everyone knows the secret word except one person, who has to fake it. Rounds are fast, social, and loud in the best way. You're trying to figure out who's bluffing. You're also, maybe, the one who's bluffing.
Table switch (~halfway through)
Tables rotate. You move to a new matched group, meet new people, and play a few more rounds.
After (~open)
When the final card is read, the structure drops. Blow out the candle, linger, keep going. Most people stay longer than they planned. A quick survey after lets you tell us who you'd love to stay connected with — we follow up if it's mutual.

Tickets become non-refundable one day before the gathering—table-building begins then.
If you purchase your ticket or complete your Connection Profile the day of the event, you can join us for a great gathering, but some personalization elements may not be fully tailored for you.
