Ask an Investor Anything: Starting a Company and Raising Money
An open conversation for women and non-binary people who dream of building something of their own
Do you have an idea you just can’t let go of, or are you dreaming about building something of your own?
This is 1 hour when you can ask the questions you have been saving up.
Two people with first-hand experience will answer them honestly: Christian Dorffer, who invests in new companies at the very beginning of their journey, and Sofia Nunes, who co-founded the European fintech company Mambu and built it from the ground up. Amalia Berglöf from Teknikkvinnor moderates the session.
There are no slides and no fixed agenda. You shape the conversation by submitting your questions and thoughts when you sign up, and by sending in more during the session.
This event is for you if you
have an idea and don’t know where to start
are curious how funding works and what it means to “raise money”
work in tech or another field and wonder whether founding is for you
have been told that raising capital is complicated and want it explained in plain language
already have a company and want a candid perspective
You don’t need a business plan, a pitch or any previous knowledge. If you have to ask what a word means, that is a good question, and others will be glad you asked.
Who you’ll hear from
Christian Dorffer is the founder and managing partner of Florent Venture Partners, a fund that backs new companies in the Nordics at their earliest stage. He has been among the first investors in companies including Canva and, more recently, Listen Labs, the Swedish-founded company acquired by Salesforce.
Sofia Nunes is a co-founder of Mambu, a European fintech company valued at over a billion dollars. She knows what the road from a first idea to a large company looks like from the inside.
Amalia Berglöf is CEO of Teknikkvinnor. She started her own company 1.5 years ago with no previous startup experience. As moderator, she will ask the questions many of us wonder about and rarely say out loud.
