About Event

What will it take to make energy affordable in Macon and across Georgia? And how will this November’s elections impact your utility bills?

Join Grist and the Macon Telegraph for a community discussion about the forces shaping Georgia’s energy future, from energy sources to the rapid growth of data centers to electric rates determined by the Georgia Public Service Commission (an elected group that regulates Georgia’s energy utilities). This event will explore how Georgia can meet its growing energy demand, how consumers can plug in to decision-making, and more statewide questions facing Georgia’s electric grid.

Featuring: Emily Jones (WABE & Grist), Kala Hunter (Columbus Ledger-Enquirer), Marqus Cole (Georgia Interfaith Power & Light), Tia Lockhart (Community Reporting Fellow, Grist), and Dr. Stephen A. Smith (Southern Alliance for Clean Energy).

Doors open at 6:30; Event from 7:00 - 8:15 p.m.

This event is presented in partnership with the Reg Murphy Center for Collaborative Journalism.
