Dear Me, Myself & I: A letter-writing journey through time
A small group letter-writing workshop for travelling through your own timeline — gently, creatively and without needing to have your entire life figured out.
Over three hours, we’ll explore the past, future and present through guided timeline journeys, tarot, writing and a little bit of arts-and-crafts chaos.
You’ll write three letters:
PAST
A letter from your present self to a younger version of you, after a guided journey backwards through your timeline.
FUTURE
A letter from your future self back to who you are today. We’ll first explore the future you’d like to move towards, then step into that version of you before writing.
PRESENT → NEAR FUTURE
A postcard from October-you to January-you. Draw on it, collage it, write all over it — then hand it back to me. I’ll post it to you in the new year.
At the beginning, everyone will also pull a card for their present self to keep beside them throughout the workshop.
This isn’t about perfectly predicting your future, digging up every childhood wound or accidentally landing in Ancient Egypt on your first timeline journey.
It’s an introduction to noticing how your mind already relates to memory, identity, possibility and time — and giving yourself some space to listen.
You’ll be guided, but the exploration itself is yours.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
approx. 3-hour small group salons
guided past + future timeline journeys
present self card pull
three letter-writing practices
paper, envelopes + postcards
pens, markers, stickers
snacks
postage for your January postcard
You can write, draw, collage, sticker, scribble, cross things out or make your letters look completely unhinged. They do not need to be beautiful, profound or grammatically correct.
BRING
Everything you need will be provided, but feel free to BYO anything that makes you want to create: your favourite pens, stickers, washi tape, magazines, photographs, letter sets, collage bits, tarot/oracle cards or other decorative bits and bobs.
If we’re picnicking, bring whatever you need to be comfy sitting/laying down outside too.
(I will bring a stack of magazines so you have a surface to write on)
A NOTE ON TIMELINE WORK
For most people, this will be their first time consciously exploring their internal timeline.
There is no “right” way for your past or future to appear, and you are never required to force an image, memory or experience.
We’re exploring — not trying to aggressively rewrite your psyche in an afternoon.
I’ll guide you through each journey and encourage you to work lightly, curiously and within what feels appropriate for you. If something deeper comes up that you want to explore further, I will also be launching a private timeline sessions for more supported one-on-one work.
EXCHANGE
Pay what you can from $30.
To give you an idea of what that does: $30 covers your own place, materials, snacks and postage, while $60 covers your place and helps make a free community spot available for someone who otherwise may not be able to come.
WEATHER
The intention is to hold this as a daytime picnic at Barangaroo Reserve (there's also a harbour pool near by if the weather weathers).
If the weather refuses to cooperate, we’ll move indoors to instead. Final location details will be sent to attendees before the event.
