Weaving: A Two-Day Course

​For thousands of years, people have turned thread into structure, interlacing warp and weft to build fabric, shelter, and art. This two-part course takes you from your very first pass of the shuttle to composing a small tapestry of your own.

​August 18: Introduction to Weaving

​Learn how a loom works, how to set it up, and practice your first foundational weaving technique. Explore different colours, textures, and yarn combinations while creating a small woven piece such as a coaster, keychain, or bag charm.

​You’ll leave with your own loom, shuttle, weaving needle, and a finished piece to continue exploring weaving at home.

​August 25: Exploring Weaving Techniques

​Take your weaving further by learning new techniques, textures, and ways to create depth and visual interest. Experiment with colour and composition while creating your own small tapestry ready to display.

​You’ll leave with your finished tapestry and the skills to continue your weaving journey.

​Artist Bio
Aashita is an artist who sustainably creates one-of-a-kind upcycled garments. She draws inspiration from indigenous Indian art traditions, translating them into approachable, contemporary sessions for beginners and curious makers. Crafting has always been a calming, meditative process for her.
