Lit(erature) to the Tit x Borough Press: LACK by Cecilia Knapp
June Lit(erature) to the Tit is here and honestly we cannot WAIT for this one 💌
We’re back at The Watson on Tuesday 23rd June from 7pm and this month we’re so excited to be partnering again with Borough Press for one of the most anticipated releases of the summer, Lack by Cecilia Knapp ✨
Everyone who books a ticket with a book will receive a copy of Lack to take part in the discussion. If you’re more of a “just here for the vibes and the crafts” girlie, there’s also a ticket option without the book 📚
We’ll send you an email next week when books are ready to collect from The Watson. And please don’t stress if you can’t pick yours up before the event because our chats are always spoiler free and super laid back anyway, so you absolutely won’t have the book ruined for you if you only collect it on the night 🫶
For our June craft we’ll be painting and designing our own wooden boards 🎨🪵
We’ll have all the materials ready for you to make your own cute decorative board for your home, or something lovely to bring out when your friends come over for snacks and wine 🧀🍇
No artistic ability required whatsoever !!!!!!! Half the fun is seeing everyone’s creations while we chat nonsense about books for two hours !!!!!

LET'S TALK OUR JUNE BOOK OF THE MONTH
LACK by Cecilia Knapp
What is Lack by Cecilia Knapp about?
'Cecilia Knapp beautifully captures the experience of contemporary womanhood in this lyrical and insightful novel. A genuine triumph' ELIZA CLARK
'Poignant to the bone. Lack is both masterfully, poetically complex and beautifully easy to read' GEMMA CAIRNEY
In the quiet, lonely hours of the middle of the night, a woman scrolls social media on her phone. Babies are everywhere. All her friends seem to have one. But she is full of doubt – just the creep sniffing at the window. How can she consider the enormity of new life when the world outside is burning?
Besides, there’s something wrong in her body. She can feel it: pain, a constant dull ache she is too frightened to investigate.
And then there’s something darker, pulsing beneath the surface, threatening to catch up with her. Hers is a life deeply affected by grief and chaos; the death of her mother, a long buried sexual assault, and a drawn-out affair with a married actor of middling fame and maximum ego – full of glamour, hedonism, obsession and control.
Is it possible to rebuild, when all you feel is lack?

'Cecilia Knapp is a great writer. I love her' KAE TEMPEST
'I really love Cecilia’s writing. It's sharp. Cuts to the quick. And offers my favourite thing, a real insight into the minds of women and all the things we don't often get to say out loud' SALMA EL-WARDANY
