Topic: What Failure Looks Like: Understanding AI Risk Scenarios
In his talk, Markov will explore AI risks ranging from benign to potentially catastrophic. It will map the three primary ways increasingly capable AI systems might cause harm: deliberate misuse by bad actors, fundamental technical misalignment with human values, and gradual systemic erosion of human influence. We'll examine how various AI development paths could lead to humanity losing meaningful control over critical societal systems - even when individual decisions along these paths seem beneficial and reasonable.
New to AI risk?
You're very welcome, and this event is a good starting point to meet the Berlin AI safety community and learn more. If you have time, we recommend you read or skim the ai-2027.com report beforehand (audio version available too) or have a look at the articles or videos on aisafety.berlin/learn. This can be helpful but it's not required.
Feedback? Suggestions for future events, speakers or topics? --> Reach out! You can also submit anonymous feedback via this form.
We're looking forward to meeting you!
