TRASAL Book Group: Seattle (Meets on Fourth Tuesday of Each Month)
βπ A Passage North by Anuk Arudpragasam
βJoin the TRASAL Seattle Book Group for our May reading of A Passage North, the Booker Prize-shortlisted novel by Anuk Arudpragasam β one of the most celebrated works of South Asian fiction in recent years.
βSet against the haunting landscape of post-civil war Sri Lanka, the novel follows Krishan on a train journey north for the funeral of his grandmother's former caretaker. As the miles pass, his mind moves through memory and reflection β on the woman who has died, on a former lover, and on the survivors of a conflict whose scars run deeper than words can hold.
βWe will gather to discuss this quietly devastating book and the questions it raises about grief, witness, memory, and the possibility of recovery β both personal and political.
βAll are welcome. This is a free, open community event. No prior experience with our book group needed β just bring your thoughts and your love of literature.
