Transforming the Public Sector From Within
Book Launch with Lindsay Cole in conversation with Sylvine Bois-Choussy (La 27e Région)
What does it take to transform public institutions from within? Less consultants, think tanks, white papers. More practice, relationships, and the patient work of staying with complexity.
Join us for the Berlin pre-release of Transforming the Public Sector From Within, a book by Lindsay Cole, PhD to be published by the University of Toronto Press. This will be an evening of connection, readings, reflection, and conversation on the lived realities of transformation work inside public systems.
This unique book is written as a cycle of seasons. Instead of offering linear solutions, it invites us into a different rhythm of institutional transformation: one that pays attention to emergence, composting, pause, renewal, courage, and the collective labour of making other futures possible. Drawing on the experiences of public servants, lessons from the natural world, and practices rooted in care, solidarity, and anti-oppression, the book offers many possibilities for transformation to take root, even inside stuck institutions.
Together with Sylvine Bois-Choussy from La 27e Région, we will use this seasonal structure as a live point of departure for an evening that moves between text, dialogue, and shared inquiry. Hosted by nextlearning e. V. at Medulla, the gathering is designed as an intimate and thoughtful space for those working on public innovation, democratic renewal, institutional imagination, and socio-ecological transformation.
