About Event

Healthcare has never had more data, more research, or more AI-generated insights. Yet this does not always result in understanding, nor does it lead directly to behavior change. This panel examines both halves of that challenge:

  • What does it take to arrive at a rigorous read on behavior?

  • What does it take to turn that insight and understanding into actual changes in the behavior of a clinician, a patient, or a team?

On July 29th, the Bescy Practitioners' Network will host a conversation with three behavioral scientists working at the intersection of healthcare, research, and AI. In this free online conversation, we'll hear perspectives from different vantage points: Agency-side research, In-house digital health, and Consulting. We'll dive into many topics, including:

  • Which is the harder problem in healthcare: Understanding behavior, or actually changing it?

  • Measuring digital health engagement vs. outcomes

  • Behavioral science and AI in health: Where does AI actually help, where is it mostly hype, and the adoption challenge

  • How behavioral science earns a seat at the table: As a research method, a strategic input, or an execution layer?

  • Practical advice for practitioners trying to integrate behavioral science into their organizations

Our Panelists

Katy Irving is Global Head of Behavioural Science at HRW and founder of HRW Shift, a 16-person team that has brought behavioural insight into thousands of healthcare research projects over the past decade. She brings a market research and innovation lens to uncovering how HCPs actually make decisions under uncertainty and information overload, and what it takes to test AI applications honestly rather than hype them.

Eden Brownell is a behavioral scientist at Zivian Health, where she builds compliance and clinical quality infrastructure for care delivered by NPs and PAs. Through empathAIze Labs she advises healthcare organizations on what she calls AI Behavioral Governance: not just whether an AI system is safe and compliant, but what it's training humans to do. She writes Beyond the Nudge for 4,000+ readers and runs The Practitioners' Room, a community of 900+ women in behavioral science.

Suzanne Kirkendall is Founder & CEO of Verelon. She was previously CEO, North America at BVA Nudge Consulting, and co-founded the Social Science division at McCann Health. She brings a consulting view of what medical affairs, commercial, and marketing teams are actually being asked to do, and how to bring it to life in the real world. Her background in public health and digital health informs her work for clients as well as her ongoing academic and industry publications.

The panel will be moderated by Scott Young and Grace Lewallen of Bescy.
