Fabric Appliqué Workshop
Explore the world of Fabric Appliqué in this beginner textile workshop!
Appliqué: The word comes from the Latin applicō ("I apply") and the French appliquer ("attach"). While most commonly practiced with textiles and garments, the term can describe similar decorative application methods in other mediums.
You'll learn how to transform fabric scraps into custom shapes, motifs, and images—adding unique details to textiles and clothing. Each student will leave with an appliqué piece to either frame, or sew onto a garment.
This workshop is entirely beginner friendly, and includes all materials! Just bring your enthusiasm for textiles, learning & community xx

About Your Instructor
Georgi is a multidisciplinary artist from Memphis based in Manhattan. With a background in fashion design and quilt restoration, she currently specializes in embroidery art. While she loves creating bespoke pieces and collaborating with brands for live events, her true passion is rooted in creative exploration with vintage clothing and rescued fabrics she collects on her travels around the North East, Western Europe, and Central Asia. Her pursuit of hand craft has always been the driving force behind her work and she loves to share her techniques to inspire others to help keep the art of craft alive.
What can I expect from a workshop at RecCreate?
Workshops at RecCreate are like the art school education your parents never let you get, at a tiny fraction of the price led by NYC’s most talented creatives + educators. We make sure you leave with something very special along with the know-how to continue exploring at home. Our emphasis is on education, creative exploration and tool proficiency.
As with all RecCreate events, you can expect to go on this journey with a room full of lovely strangers. We’ll offer opportunities for connection throughout our time— encouraging the spirit of the collective. It is (so) much more fun to get to create together.
Getting Here
The venue is a ~hidden~ art studio located at 20 Grand ave in brooklyn on the 6th floor of a commercial building! When you arrive, buzz #604, push to open and take the elevator up to 6 (push the elevator button until it turns red.!!) Take a right out of the elevator, and a left at the end of the hallway. The door will be the first one on your right.
Cancelation Policy
Unfortunately for this event tickets are non-refundable/exchange-able! Please double check your calendar. In the event you are no longer able to make it, you are welcome to give your ticket to a friend or swap it on our ticket swap board. Just tell them to use your name!

All guests must be 18+ to attend and though we love your pups, unfortunately cannot have them in the studio!
