About Event

This month’s Solidarity Screening is a collaboration with Goldsmiths Student Union and Goldsmiths 4 Palestine.

In Mohammed Almughanni’s “An Orange from Jaffa” (2024), Mohammed, a young Palestinian, is urgently seeking a taxi to take him through an Israeli checkpoint. When the driver, Farouk, learns that Mohammed has already failed to cross another checkpoint, trouble ensues.

“ضو – Light,” (2023) is a documentary film exploring hope from within the oppressive grip of the Israeli occupation. The film takes us on a journey through Hebron under apartheid, and in this place “where all other elements are controlled and rationed, perhaps our light is the one thing that cannot be taken.”

Director Ahmad Abu Monshar and SU Welfare & Liberation Officer Shada Abdalqader will be in conversation following the screening.

Tickets are on a pay-what-you-can basis with all money raised going to the Palestinian Student Fundraiser. No one turned away for lack of funds.

Refreshments provided, snacks and drinks welcome.
