Modern Programming Paradigms – Venkat Subramaniam Live
We are honored to welcome Venkat subramaniam to Tamil Nadu, and especially to Coimbatore, for the Tamil Nadu Java User Groups community meetup happening on 7th February.
Venkat Subramanian is a respected voice in the Java ecosystem and a passionate advocate for strong software design fundamentals. His long-standing contributions to the developer community—through speaking, mentoring, and consistently sharing practical knowledge—have helped countless developers grow with confidence and clarity. His sessions are known not just for explaining what to do, but why and when to do it.
In this meetup, he will be presenting on an exciting and thought-provoking topic:
“OOP vs. Data-Oriented Programming: Which One to Choose?”
As Java developers, we rely heavily on object-oriented programming, especially on polymorphism, to build extensible and maintainable systems. This approach has served us extremely well over the years. However, like any powerful tool, there are situations where OOP may not be the best fit.
In this session, Venkat will walk us through a real-world example where a traditional object hierarchy and polymorphism become a misfit. From there, he will introduce Data-Oriented Programming, a newer approach supported by modern Java, and demonstrate how it can solve the same problem more elegantly and effectively.
Most importantly, this session will help us understand:
When OOP is the right choice
When Data-Oriented Programming makes more sense
And how both paradigms can be intermixed thoughtfully in real-world Java applications
Whether you’re a student, a working professional, or an active community contributor, this session promises valuable insights that can change the way you think about software design.
On behalf of the Tamil Nadu Java User Groups community, I warmly invite all Java enthusiasts and community members to join us, learn together, and be part of this enriching knowledge-sharing experience.
Looking forward to seeing you all in Coimbatore on 7th February. Let’s learn, discuss, and grow as a community!
