​7 artists and 4 designers with roots in a variety of mediums and practices contribute to a fictitious design of a future Johannesburg. Regenerative yet conciliatory with the city’s history and physicality. Different experiential works frame existing narratives iconic to the city through a forward-looking lens. A position that argues for the innovation and ingenuity of the people’s tools. Using materials, sound, spatial design and archival fragments to paint an imaginative picture of how the city looks. Contending with hegemonic narratives of a modern African future and delving into real life examples of innovative material realities that speculate an African future of ingenuity.
