About Event

We know that for many people, speaking Kreyòl can feel vulnerable. Maybe you understand more than you speak. Maybe you’re worried about your accent. Maybe you’re reconnecting with the language later in life. Wherever you are in your journey, this space is for you.

We’re hosting a casual and welcoming Kreyòl Language Lounge—a space where you can gather with others who love Haitian Creole, whether you’re a beginner, fluent speaker, or simply curious. This is a chance to practice your Kreyòl in a relaxed environment, meet new friends, and build community through conversation.

This month's topic will be a celebration of Haitian Heritage! May is a time to honor the beauty, resilience, language, creativity, and legacy of Haiti and the Haitian people across the world. It is also a time to reflect on identity, connection, and the many ways our culture continues to live within us through language, memory, community, storytelling, and shared experiences.

This month’s lounge will celebrate all things Haiti, from language and expressions to identity and shared cultural experiences.

Bring your curiosity, your love for language, and your appetite, and let’s honor Kreyòl together! 💛
