Birding and Storytelling with The Spark Bird Project and NYC Plover Project

​Come share your spark bird and birding stories with us on Saturday, March 7th in the Edgemere neighborhood of the Rockaways! A "spark bird" is a specific bird or a bird-related experience that ignites a person's initial, passionate interest in birding. It’s often the catalyst for a lifelong, and deeper connection to the natural world.

​The Spark Bird Project, an ongoing community science initiative designed to gather, share, and study the stories of people’s passion for birds. NYC Plover Project is a Rockaway-based nonprofit dedicated to protecting Piping Plovers and other beach-nesting birds through educational engagement, community engagement, and volunteer stewardship.

​Join with fellow bird enthusiasts to learn more about our organizational missions, swap stories, and hear what we are discovering from over 400 spark birders!
