Designing Technology Together: A Hands-On Workshop for Envisioning New Robotics Applications

​How can we design new technologies with communities at the center?

​Join us for a hands-on workshop exploring how robotics and emerging technologies can address real-world needs in Hawaiʻi. Working in small groups, participants will move through interactive design-thinking activities to identify challenges, generate ideas, and envision new robotics applications and solutions.

​The workshop is hosted by engineers, scientists, and educators from the Purple Maiʻa Foundation, Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship, Honua Scholars, and the MOHALA Lab at the University of California, Los Angeles, as part of Hawaiʻi Tech Week. Participants will have opportunities to interact with researchers and community partners working across robotics, education, health, and the environment.

​No experience in robotics, science, or engineering is required. We invite you to bring your experiences and ideas and help shape how future technologies can better serve Hawaiʻi's communities.

​Ideas generated during the workshop may also inspire future projects and collaborations with participating community and university partners.

​We especially encourage middle school, high school, and college students to participate. Educators, community members, and others interested in shaping how technology can better serve our communities are also welcome! Light refreshments will be provided.
