Satori Book Club Vol. 2: Choose Your Adventure
A chill book club for ambitious people who want to read interesting books, have better conversations, and make life a little more interesting.
Welcome to Satori Book Club: Vol. 2.
We’ll spend the afternoon hanging out in the park, geeking out on interesting ideas, sharing spicy takes, debating the things we disagree on, and inevitably going down a few completely unnecessary rabbit holes along the way.
📚 What we're reading
Main Book
The Alchemist — Paulo Coelho
A short philosophical story about following your dreams, trusting your gut, and figuring out what you actually want out of life. Plenty to debate around destiny, purpose, risk, and whether the universe is actually trying to tell you something.
⚔️ Fiction Side Quest
Dungeon Crawler Carl — Matt Dinniman
Earth gets turned into a giant intergalactic dungeon game show, and a dude named Carl has to survive it with his ex-girlfriend’s cat. It’s absurd, hilarious, surprisingly deep, and apparently extremely hard to put down once you start.
🤝 Business / Self-Improvement Side Quest
Never Split the Difference — Chris Voss
Written by a former FBI hostage negotiator, this one is all about communicating and negotiating when the stakes are high. Lots of practical ideas for business, relationships, and everyday life.
Quick reminder: You really don’t have to read the books — read one, read them all, read half, or come in completely blind. The books are really just fuel for interesting ideas, deep conversations, spicy takes, and random rabbit holes. No pressure, no homework vibes.
We started this thing so we could geek out on deep ideas, philosophy, and life’s big questions together instead of having all those conversations in our own heads. 🧠
We’ll be meeting at Sheep Meadow in Central Park. Bring something comfortable to sit on, a snack if you'd like, and come ready to hang.
A rough idea of the afternoon:
👋 Hang out and catch up
📚 Break into groups around the different books and discussion prompts
🌶️ Share insights, hot takes, disagreements, and whatever rabbit holes we find ourselves in
🗳️ Nominate + vote on what we read next
🌳 Stick around afterward to hang, read, or enjoy the park
Every ~6 weeks we’ll pick some new books, get together to talk about them, and sprinkle in casual reading hangs and other shenanigans in between.
If you like interesting people, interesting ideas, and conversations that go a little deeper than “so, what do you do?” — come hang. 📚🤙
