About Event

It has been a long time since our last CodeWeekend walk.

For a few years, I and a few friends organized casual 5K walks around Stanley Park for the CodeWeekend Developers Community. They were simple meetups where developers, builders, newcomers, students, founders, and friends could walk together, meet new people, and stay connected beyond work, code, and screens.

Life got busy, and we stopped organizing them for a while.

Now, after a long break, I’m organizing another CodeWeekend walk. Who knows, maybe this will become the start of doing them again more often.

For this walk, I am also participating in Run to Relocate, and I thought it would be meaningful to combine it with our CodeWeekend meetup. Run to Relocate is an initiative by TalentLift Canada, a registered Canadian charity that helps employers source and relocate talent from refugee populations.

Since this walk is happening on Saturday, June 20, World Refugee Day, our 5K walk can count both as a CodeWeekend community meetup and as participation in Run to Relocate.

This is not a race. You can walk, jog, or run. The main goal is to reconnect, move together, meet good people, and be part of something meaningful on World Refugee Day.

Who should join

CodeWeekend members, alumni, developers, designers, product people, students, founders, newcomers, friends of the community, and anyone who wants to walk with us.

You do not need to be a runner. A comfortable 5K walk is enough.

Agenda

3:00 PM — Meet and gather
3:10 PM — Welcome and introductions
3:15 PM — Start the 5K walk
4:30 PM — Finish the walk
4:30 PM – 5:00 PM — Casual networking, group photo, coffee/snacks nearby and community conversations.
