About Event

As-salamu alaykum Milwaukee,

BintJamila’s Table, in collaboration with Milwaukee4Palestine, invites you to the Third Annual Community Appreciation Iftar at Radio Milwaukee.

This family friendly iftar invites folks from across the Milwaukee community to gather to reflect on & honor the incredible work of local activists, volunteers, artists, and community members who have worked tirelessly over the last year to advocate for the Palestinian cause, collective liberation, and freedom.

The Iftar is free of charge and everyone is welcome!

The theme this year is Sumud - steadfastness in the example of Palestinians. All our communities have been up against so much this year and we are all doing what we can to protect each other. In the midst of all this, we cannot forget that Palestine is our compass. There is no liberation without Palestinian liberation, and this year's iftar will focus on Palestinian sumud as a reminder to keep uplifting the Palestinian struggle in all our fights.

This event will also be a space to collectively grieve the atrocities taking place and be in community with one another while breaking our fast to delicious, home-cooked Palestinian food.

Taking action:

This year we are highlighting one special organization doing incredible work to support Palestinians in Gaza as they continue surviving genocide: the Gaza Sunbirds. In 2025, Milwaukee started its own sanctioned, solidarity chapter of the Great Ride of Return, a campaign raising awareness and support for the Gaza Sunbirds.

The Gaza Sunbirds was founded in 2020 to put the power of the bicycle in the hands of Palestinians with disabilities. They are a network of athletes, professionals, and volunteers turning resilience into international representation, global advocacy, and lifesaving aid. They open pathways for amputated and otherwise disabled Palestinians to rehabilitate through sport, train, compete, and champion our collective cause.

When Israel’s genocide erupted in October 2023, their riders pivoted from racing to aid, using the same bikes to reach bomb-scarred neighborhoods with food, medicine, and hope. Wherever we ride, determination and hope lead the way.

Donate here!

We encourage guests to donate what they can to the Gaza Sunbirds. You can follow the Milwaukee chapter on Instagram at @greatride_mke.
