​Why this workshop, why now?

​The economic landscape for Black engineers has shifted dramatically. Over 270,000 federal roles were eliminated, with Black women losing nearly 100,000 jobs in 2025 alone. DEI programs have been dismantled across tech and engineering firms. Recruiting at HBCU and Black STEM conferences has been pulled back. Black professionals make up just 2% of the science and engineering workforce, and that number is even lower for Black women.

​In this environment, visibility is not optional. It is a career protection strategy. This workshop meets Black software engineers where they are and gives them practical tools to think beyond the title, maximizing every platform available to them as a vehicle for visibility, credibility, and opportunity.
