trashscapes: a noticing (and photo) walk
LOOK DOWN MORE!
A casual walk through the East Village for anyone who wants to slow down, look more carefully at what's around them, and capture what they find.
On this walk, we'll move slowly through the neighborhood looking for things worth pausing at and then figuring out how to capture them. I suggest a phone or camera, but feel free to bring a sketchbook or whatever you prefer. Any amount (including 0) of art experience is welcome. :)

This walk is inspired by trashscapes—an ongoing photography project that started with a simple habit: noticing the accidental compositions of debris and found matter on NYC streets. Over a decade of daily walks, the habit became an archive of what gets left behind. I'm drawn to the way found matter interplays with the city's infrastructure—using it as framing, finding balance in color and form, and making the incidental feel composed.
