Detoxing from Plastic: Documentary Screening, Panel Discussion and Networking Reception
Plastic pollution doesn’t stop at the ocean — and neither do its impacts.
The same chemicals and microplastics contaminating our seas and wildlife are showing up in the human body, with growing evidence linking them to hormone disruption, fertility issues, and chronic disease. Join us for a special screening of The Plastic Detox, a powerful new documentary that reveals how plastic is not just polluting our planet—but our bodies. Following the abbreviated screening of the documentary, we will host a panel discussion featuring Academy Award—winning director Louie Psihoyos, Emmy Award—winning co-director and producer Josh Murphy, and leading epidemiological scientist Dr. Shanna Swan, whose groundbreaking research on fertility and endocrine-disrupting chemicals is featured in the documentary. They will be joined by fertility specialist Dr. Thalia Segal for a conversation exploring the real-world health impacts of plastic exposure and what we can do about it. The discussion will be moderated by Dianna Cohen, Co-Founder and Chief Vision Officer of Plastic Pollution Coalition.
The event will be followed by a networking reception with light bites and coffee. The event is hosted in partnership with Earth Island Institute, Plastic Pollution Coalition, Oceanic Preservation Society, the Oceanic Preservation Society, and storytelling nonprofit Land And Sea For All.
